We are looking for volunteers who will help with set up of the books the day before the sale, help transport books to the sale, monitor the doors, monitor the tables of books to keep them tidy, assist the customers, and help with cleanup following the sale. The mini sales generally take place at the downtown library and the large sale in April takes place at the Lane County fairgrounds.
Internet Sales volunteers post books to Amazon.com and Biblio.com. It’s an interesting and challenging job. Volunteers use their own laptops and/or tablets to conduct internet searches of new and old, sometimes very old, books, and then post these books for sale. The team meets from 10 to noon every other Wednesday at the Downtown Library. We use tested guidelines to search various online market places, make decisions about prices, and write descriptions of books.
Help us keep our volunteer-run bookstore thriving! We’re looking for a passionate book lover to join our team for a regular, committed shift at Second Hand Prose.
If you enjoy sharing the magic of reading and want to make a meaningful impact by helping raise funds that support the Eugene Public Library, we’d love to hear from you.
