Summer Sale

Don't miss our summer sale on July 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bascom-Tykeson room of the downtown library. Lots of summer reads!

There'll be a special table of "Ephemera" at the Summer Reading Sale July 14.  This is what we call the interesting miscellaneous things that come in with donated books-  maps, postcards, old magazines, pamphlets, booklets, pictures...etc.  They will all be individually, reasonably-priced for your shopping fun.
Do you like mysteries?  Or do you read fiction at the beach/mountain cabin/backyard hammock?   Mysteries and fiction will be arranged alphabetically at the Summer Reading Sale, to make it easier for you to check out your favorite authors.  Knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to help you find new authors too.  All for a dollar each.
Did you know that we have local mystery authors?  A famous one is Kate Wilhelm, a long-time, recently-deceased writer of mysteries (and science fiction, but that's another story).  Her mysteries feature local attorney Barbara Holloway, who you can follow all over Eugene and Lane County, even to Central Oregon and the coast.  Carola Dunn, featured in the July 1 R-G, has written lots of Daisy Dalrymple stories, featuring a young woman making her own way as a journalist in post-WWI Britain.   Shirley Tallman's stories are set in late 19th century San Francisco.
